Israel Expects Obama to Take Back ‘1967 Lines’ Demand

by Gil Ronen

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was quick on the draw Thursday in voicing clear displeasure with President Barack Obama’s mideast policy speech.http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/144334

“Israel appreciates President Obama’s commitment to peace,” the response began, curtly. “Israel believes that for peace to endure between Israelis and Palestinians, the viability of a Palestinian state cannot come at the expense of the viability of the one and only Jewish state.”

“That is why Prime Minister Netanyahu expects to hear a reaffirmation from President Obama of U.S. commitments made to Israel in 2004, which were overwhelmingly supported by both Houses of Congress.”

“Among other things,” Netanyahu reminded Obama, “those commitments relate to Israel not having to withdraw to the 1967 lines which are both indefensible and which would leave major Israeli population centers in Judea and Samaria beyond those lines.”

“Those commitments also ensure Israel’s well-being as a Jewish state by making clear that Palestinian refugees will settle in a future Palestinian state rather than in Israel.”

“Without a solution to the Palestinian refugee problem outside the borders of Israel, no territorial concession will bring peace.”

“Equally, the Palestinians, and not just the United States, must recognize Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people, and any peace agreement with them must end all claims against Israel.”

“Prime Minister Netanyahu will make clear that the defense of Israel requires an Israeli military presence along the Jordan River.”

“Prime Minister Netanyahu will also express his disappointment over the Palestinian Authority’s decision to embrace Hamas, a terror organization committed to Israel’s destruction, as well as over Mahmoud Abbas’s recently expressed views which grossly distort history and make clear that Abbas seeks a Palestinian state in order to continue the conflict with Israel rather than end it.”

The Life of Enoch Part Two

What Did Enoch Do On Earth?

We are able to find more about Enoch in Jude 1:14. Here we are aware that he is a prophet: “Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: ‘See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him. These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.”

During the Second Advent of Jesus Christ, Enoch prophesied in the context above that: a) the Lord is coming with His bride the church and the Lord will be judging the unsaved according to their “ungodly acts”; b) The unsaved will be judged by the “harsh things” they have said against Him (Jesus Christ). It is important to note that the church will be coming back with God, but the bride will not partake in any form of judgment of unbelievers with God or apart from Him.

Let us investigate a little further into what the author of the Book of Jude is telling his readers. During the following judgment process of unbelievers, there are two main phrases in the Biblical context, which I have placed in Italics. They are both highly important to know since these are the two main words which God will place on humankind when He puts them under judgment. The two phrases are “ungodly acts” and “harsh things.” These words should be sobering to the unbeliever whose acts and speech are harsh to the Messiah.

The Greek word for ungodly acts is ἔργον ἀσέβεια, this terminology means:

1.business, employment, that which any one is occupied

a.that which one undertakes to do, enterprise, undertaking

2.any product whatever, any thing accomplished by hand, art, industry, or mind

3.an act, deed, thing done: the idea of working is emphasised in opp. to that which is less than work.

And the translated words:

KJV (176) - deed, 22; doing, 1; labour, 1; work, 152;

NAS (169) - action, 1; behavior, 1; deed, 13; deeds, 52; doing, 1; effectual, 1; labor, 1; result, 1; task, 1; what...done, 1; work, 34; works, 62. These definitions are from the Christian website, Heartlight’s Search God’s Word.

Secondly, the other judgment for the unbeliever will constitute the harsh things they had said to Jesus Christ. In Greek harsh things is σκληρός oèvὅς.

These definitions mean:

1. hard, harsh, rough, stiff

a. of men: metaph. harsh, stern, hard

b. of things: violent, rough, offensive, intolerable

The translated words are:

KJV (11) - fierce 1 -, 6; hard, 5;

NAS (5) - difficult, 1; hard, 2; harsh things, 1; strong, 1

We can clearly see this judgment is going to be strict on the very words the unbeliever speaks against the Creator of the universe. I believe that these two particular phrases, ungodly acts and harsh things, will be judged in that particular order. The book of Matthew 12:36-37, points out to its readers this important fact. (“I tell you that on the Day of Judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned”).

Model Altar of Unhewn Stones Completed at Temple Institute

by Gil Ronen (Click on Link) http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/135199

The Temple Institute in Jerusalem announced Friday the completion of a model of the biblical altar which G-d, through Moses, commanded the nation of Israel to build at the Mount of Eval (Ebal) overlooking Shechem:

“And there you shall build an altar unto Hashem your God, an altar of stones: you shall lift up no iron tool upon them. You shall build the altar of Hashem your G-d of unhewn stones.” (Dvarim / Deuteronomy 27:5,6).

The model altar / Temple Institute

For many years, the Institute has been examining ways of building a model of the altar from whole stones that had not been touched by iron tools. In the end, the Institute commissioned artist Assaf Kidron of Givot Olam Farm at Itamar, Samaria, to design and create a model which conforms with the specifications described by authoritative Jewish sage Rambam (Maimonides) – one cubit wide, one cubit deep, and three cubits high.

It has been placed in the Institute's visitor center.

The rocks were collected from the Dead Sea as documented in the accomanying video. The additional material for filling the cracks between the stones was collected with a gold-plated shovel, to prevent any contact with the iron.

"The act of building this model is a statement by the nation of Israel toward the Heavens, that we really want a Temple and are doing everything possible to be ready for it,” artist Kidron said after completing the work. “As an artist from a priestly family, the construction of the altar connected with the aspiration to connect matter with spirit, earth to heaven, and man to his G-d,” he explained.

The Institute's management said that “the visitors are very moved by the model and the eyes do not remain dry.”

Too many disasters — what are the prophetic implications?

By Dr. David R. Reagan

Founder & Director, Lamb & Lion Ministries

The world has been reeling the past few months from disasters — both natural and man made. First came the outbreak of revolutions all across the Middle East. And then came the gigantic earthquake in Japan and the subsequent tsunami and nuclear melt-down crisis.

Our office has been inundated with requests that we produce articles concerning the prophetic implications of these events. My response has been that there is no need for new articles because we have been talking about these events for years, pointing out that the Bible clearly prophesies that in the end times there will be wars between nations and rebellions within them (Matthew 24:7) and that there will be an increase in the frequency and intensity of natural calamities (Matthew 24:7-8 and Luke 21:11).

In short, we are seeing Bible prophecy fulfilled before our very eyes.

The Bible makes it clear that God has spoken through signs of nature throughout history. He pounded ancient Egypt with plague after plague until Pharaoh was willing to release the children of Israel from captivity (Exodus 7-10). Before they occupied the Promised Land, God warned the children of Israel through Moses that if they were not faithful to Him, He would afflict them with natural disasters like drought and crop failures. In the book of Joel we are told about a locust invasion that God sent to call the Jewish people to repentance. In like manner we are told in the book of Haggai that when the children of Israel ignored rebuilding the Temple after their return from Babylonian captivity, God sent drought, hail, and mildew until they turned to Him in repentance.

On the day that Jesus was crucified, the significance of the event was underscored by a great earthquake and darkness (Matthew 27:45-54). And we are told that when Jesus returns, the earth will be afflicted with huge hail stones and will experience the greatest earthquakes in its history, causing every mountain and island to be moved (Revelation 16:20-21).

In like manner, the Bible teaches that wars and civil unrest are often punishments of God for rebellion against Him.

One of the greatest examples of this truth is to be found in the book of Habakkuk. The prophet had grown weary of calling the people of Judah to repentance, and so he began to cry out to God to vindicate his message by putting the nation under some sort of discipline. The Lord responded by telling him that He was sending the Babylonians to attack the nation. The prophet was astounded at this news. His response was to point out to God that although his nation was bad, it was not as bad as the Babylonians. He asked, "How can You punish those who are evil with those who are more evil?" The Lord's response was the same one He has given throughout all of history to anyone who questions Him: "The righteous shall live by faith" (Habakkuk 2:4). In other words, "Stop questioning and start trusting."

Jesus is about to return. God is proclaiming that fact through signs of the times that are prophesied in His Word. God does not want the return of Jesus to surprise anyone because He does not wish that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). The chaotic events that characterize the world today are designed to motivate people to repentance so that they will be ready for the return of God's Messiah (Isaiah 26:9b).

This Issue

I was really blessed by the research I did for our feature article about the King James Bible, and I hope you will be equally blessed by the article itself. May it give you a greater appreciation for the sacrifices that were made to get the Bible translated and published in the English language. God's Word is our most precious possession, apart from Jesus Himself.

The Sign Of Jonah

Posted by Cindybythesea

Gray Whale spotted off Herliya Marina, Israel

Living in Hawaii for the past ten years, I’ve developed a great appreciation for the mammoth creatures who inhabit the deep known as whales. Every year during the winter months the Humpback Whales make their way from Alaska to the warmer waters of the southern Pacific for giving birth to their young. It’s not uncommon during these winter months to witness from the shore an occasional fluke, fin, blast of spray or breach – all of which are an unforgettable sight, no matter how many times you’ve seen it! So, when I read a post on Five Doves yesterday posted by Susan, “Largest whale ever seen spotted in Israel,” – it immediately caught my attention.

“Now the Lord prepared a great fish” Jonah 1:17

For those of you who may have missed the story out of Israel Saturday May 8, a 40 foot long Gray Whale was spotted off the coast of Tel Aviv. Called by one news article, “the most amazing whale sighting in history”. It is truly astonishing, when you realize that these whales have been extinct in the Atlantic since the 1700′s; that’s more than 300 years! And, with only 20,000 or so of these amazing animals still in existence, it is equally incredible that one of them should make the incredibly long journey from the Pacific to the Mediterranean in a journey that is truly baffling to scientists. For the whale would have either had to swim through the Panama canal, through the Bering Strait near the ice cap or around the Cape of Africa, all of which are nothing short of miraculous considering the extremely long distances involved. And, with Israel figuring so predominantly in the news these days and in light of Biblical prophecy being fulfilled, I can’t help, but, think that the sighting of this whale off the coast of Tel Aviv is signficant.

- the sign of Jonah

One of the news articles I read was titled: Mediterranean Gray whale appears ‘back from the dead’. I liked that title. For the author, I believe unbeknownst to him, was making a prophetic statement. In Matthew 12:38, some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus asking him for a miraculous sign. And, according to Luke 11:16, what they were requesting was a heavenly sign, perhaps a sign in the skies. It was not enough for them, as it says in Luke 7:22, that “the blind see, the lame walk and the leper is purified.” They wanted something more – and this is how Jesus answered them.

“A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign. But, none will be given it except for the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a great fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Ninevah will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here.” Matthew 12:39-41

Most of us are familiar with this passage and understand it rightly so to pertain to the resurrection. But, I believe in looking at the book of Jonah, there may be a secondary application as well. For Jonah is listed as one of the minor prophets, and a prophet he is indeed.

- whale song

Based on the size of the whale, scientists believe the whale spotted off the coast of Israel is that of a mature adult. Mature gray whales from what I have read, are 40 -45 feet in length and have a life expectancy of 50 – 70 years. Splitting those numbers down the middle, it would be a safe bet, to say that this particular whale is approximately 60 years old. Which, if this should be the case, its birth would have coincided with the birth of Israel in 1948! Interesting, as both the whale and the nation of Israel once considered dead, are not only not dead, but, are alive and thriving today and close to rounding out a generation of 70 years.

We know from an analysis of numbers in scripture, that the number 40 speaks of a time of trial, chastisement and probation. And, the number 70 (seven the number of completion) denotes a generation. Because the final seven years of history primarily concern Israel, I believe the size and age of this whale are direct indications that the time of Jacob’s trouble is at hand. A confirmation that the “sign of Jonah” given to the Pharisee’s who approached Jesus in disbelief was a sign not only for them, but, for Israel today, who, like the Pharisee’s of old, remain largely in unbelief. For what is the book of Jonah about, if it is not repentance.

Listen to the prayer of Jonah as he prayed inside the belly of the great fish and apply it to unbelieving Israel today.

“In my distress I called to the Lord and he answered me. From the depths of the watery grave, I called for help and you listened to my cry. You hurled me in to the deep, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me. I said, I have been banished from your sight, yet I will look again toward your holy temple. The engulfing waters threatened me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. To the roots of the mountains I sank down, the earth beneath barred me in forever. But, you brought my life up from the pit, O Lord my God. When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you Lord, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple. Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that would be theirs. But I, with a song of Thanksgiving will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the Lord.” Jonah 2:2-9

Yes, salvation is of the Lord. Something Israel will realize when they have sunk to the bottom of the depths as Jonah did, with nowhere to turn and no one to call on, but, God. As I pondered the significance of the sighting, I wondered if it was a sign for Israel or a sign for the church and I decided it was both. I believe it is first and foremost a sign for Israel, for the whale was sighted very close to land, not more than a mile off the shore of Tel Aviv. To me this indicates that this pertains to Israel. It pertains to us the church only in the sense that God has given us the eyes to see and to recognize that the time is at hand. Scientists may be baffled as to how the whale arrived in the Mediterranean, but, I am not. God brought the whale in the same way he brought the animals to the ark – he called them. And after he called them, he closed the door of the ark on Noah and his family.

An interesting side note – After the repentant Jonah arrived in Nineveh, he preached to the city that they would have forty days to repent. Forty days from the first sighting of the whale on May 8 is June 17, – the 5th of Tammuz on the Jewish calendar AND the anniversary of Ezekiel’s vision of the chariot. A vision which has to do with many heavenly mysteries including – the heavens and firmament, angels and the twelve tribes of Israel; something which may be alluded to in Revelation 7:1.

“After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: Do not harm the land, the sea or the trees, until we put a seal of God on the foreheads of the servants of our God. Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from the tribes of Israel.” Rev. 7:1-4

Will the twelve tribes of Israel be sealed forty days from the sighting of the whale? I don’t know, but, I can tell you this – we who are waiting and watching for the return of Jesus are going home soon! We have witnessed the sign of Jonah and the time of Jacob’s trouble is ready to begin.

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper who love thee! Psalm 122:6 Watching and waiting with YOU for the soon return of Jesus! Cindy

Rabbi calls for sacrifice on Temple Mount

The annual attempts to resume the Passover sacrifice received a first significant rabbinical backing recently. Safed's Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, a prominent religious Zionism leader, has called on the public to perform the sacrifice mitzvah on the eve of the Jewish holiday, in about two weeks.

Speaking during a Halacha lesson in Jerusalem last week, the rabbi warned that Jews evading the mitzvah were risking "Kareth" - a supernatural punishment for transgressing Jewish Law.

Rightists arrested over Pesach sacrifice / Shmulik Grossman

Noam Federman, Yehuda Glick detained on suspicion of planning to sacrifice young goats near Temple Mount. 'It's a shame and a disgrace that the police are trying to stop Jews from going up to the Temple Mount and offering a sacrifice,' Federman tells Ynet

According to Rabbi Eliyahu, there is a halachic, legal and public possibility to offer a Passover sacrifice these days. During the lesson, he quoted senior rabbinical authorities, adding that Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kalisher – one of the founders of modern and religious Zionism – had asked the Turkish sultan to allot an area on the Temple Mount for the erection of an altar for a Passover sacrifice.

The Safed rabbi went on to say that the Passover sacrifice could be slaughtered in front of the Dome of the Rock plaza, although the Temple no longer exists and the people of Israel are defined as "tameh met" (in a status of impurity which comes from contact with a dead body).

In order to overcome the greatest obstacle, beyond the political problem, an altar must be erected, the rabbi said. He also called for the preparation of "priesthood clothes", which are the only ones in which Kohanim (priests) can perform their work at the Temple.

Mission possible

Addressing the legal aspect, Rabbi Eliyahu claimed that every person has the right to perform the commandment of his religion according to his own understanding. He added that petitions filed with the High Court of Justice against the sacrifice were accepted only because the police were unprepared to secure the ceremony.

"It's perfectly clear that if the public pressures its representatives in the government or in the Knesset, everything will change. If the judges have ruled that the police must secure simpler protests, why not the Passover sacrifice?"

Eliyahu rejected the claim that it was impossible to resume the mitzvah publicly. Addressing the international diplomatic ramifications, he said, "We are being threatened that any movement on our part on the Temple Mount will launch the third world war… (But) we can free our souls of the horror of the gentiles, just like we freed ourselves before the Exodus."

He rejected the internal opposition too. "Some fear the public echo of the Passover sacrifice – how will the seculars view it? What will the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals say? The truth is that this should not even be discussed…

"We have already been scorned for the circumcision mitzvah, persecuted and condemned to death for that. Today the UN's health organization recommends that all men undergo circumcision in order to avoid illnesses."

Rabbi Eliyahu said the Torah had predicted that some would mock the sacrifice mitzvah. Such a person, he noted, is called in the Passover Haggadah, the "wicked son", who cleans his hands and says, "This doesn’t belong to me, this blood and primitiveness. I am an enlightened person. I respect animals. I don't slaughter them barbarically."

The rabbi estimated, based on the Bible stories, that those who oppose this mitzvah would eventually change their mind and join the Temple work.

'Break spiritual barrier'

In order to increase the motivation to offer a Passover sacrifice, Eliyahu noted that this is one of two "active mitzvot" (along with the circumcision), and that those evading it risk supernatural punishment and "cause great damage to themselves and to the entire world".

He added that his father, former Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, wrote that this custom may still exist these days.

"These things should make us break the spiritual barrier preventing us from thinking about offering the Passover sacrifice," Rabbi Eliyahu concluded.

He said his remarks were not lip service, but laws being learned "as a real demand and real preparation for the Passover sacrifice. Although we are not used to it, and have gotten used to living without a temple, we must change our ways."
